Transformation

One looking for a dessert option with healthy, or light, or nutritious, will seldom look for ice-cream. Yet, the freezing treat remains as a popular indulgence for a hard-day of work. Heated blanket, a comfy sofa, Netflix, and a tub of New Zealand Natural Ice Cream. From a child to an 80-year-old grandma, no one can resist ice-cream, especially if itʼs well presented. By a visually pleasing design with melting illustrations, the melting texture of ice cream extends to the first visual impression of the product to the customers. The visual design of the packaging relates with the texture of ice cream for a mouth-watering purchasing experience. Considering varying product placing methods in retailing, the lids have been designed to offer simple illustrations. It allows the customer to instantly understand the flavour that they are getting, so they can grab and go, then binge at home. Logo of the brand has been slightly altered for a more modern look for the younger audience while resounding with the tradition New Zealand silver fern for its country of root.

With sustainability of the product in mind, all packaging includes wordings for “sustainably farmed milk”. Combining with the well-known “natural” stereotype that is linked to New Zealand, the wording and the colour scheme reflects an honest message to the consumers. The concern for the environment expands as the container can be re-used for different purposes, rather than just recycling. The container can be used as flower pot, piggy bank or a loud speaker, for elderly, kids and those who sings a tune after a good tub of ice cream. Yet, itʼs totally understandable not to keep ice cream tubs at home when you are so in love with New Zealand Natural Ice Cream. Therefore, all of the packaging can be recycled, made with bio-degradable plastic or fully-recyclable laminated papers. Specially thought spoons will be coming with the flower pot design for a comprehensive planting experience. Strategically weakened dotted impression will be made on the lid for an easier re-use experience. Fear not it will be contaminated, as the ice cream will be covered by (recyclable) fully-sealed tin foil cover for all the natural freshness.
